Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for a Library card?

Residents of Patoka Township wishing to obtain a library card must present a valid driver’s license with current address, valid State ID with current address or current government issued photo ID. If the address is not current, they must present one of the following showing current address:

  • Valid voter’s registration card
  • Utility bill issued within the last 60 days
  • Bank statement issued with the last 60 days
  • Valid current government issued ID (e.g. military ID, passport)
  • Property tax receipt

If they do not reside in the library’s taxing district but do own real property in the library’s taxing district, they must present a current tax bill or a deed to the property.

The application for a child under the age of 18 but over the age of 5 must be completed by a parent or legal guardian (who must prove residency).

Resident library cards will be renewed every two years from the date of receiving the library card.

Non-resident students (K-12) who reside within the North Gibson School District or attend a school within the school district are eligible for a complimentary one-year, renewable library card entitling the student to all rights and privileges of this library only and OVERDRIVE.

Reciprocal borrowers will receive a library card by showing valid proof—a current library card from their home library and photo ID.  The card will be valid at this library only. The card is valid for one year from the date of receiving the library card and may be renewed by showing a photo ID and valid library card.  The person must be in good standing at their home library.

The Library Board will set subscription fees for non-library district residents not living in an area supported by another library.  Only full year subscriptions for an individual will be sold.  They have full EVERGREEN   privileges.

Library card replacement fee will be $2.00 and a valid photo ID is required.

Renew Library items?

Most Library items can be renewed twice if the item has not been requested by another Library patron. However, some items borrowed from others in our network of partner libraries have different renewal terms and are not renewable beyond the original due date. DVDs and Novelty Nook items have different borrowing limits. Please visit us at the library or send us a message for any given policy for renewing items.
